Schlumberger sets up Hammerfest base

The new facility at the existing Polarbase complex will
include 12 storage tanks for drilling fluids and production chemicals for
delivery offshore, as well as a storage hall and pump room.

The company already has seven supply bases along the
Norwegian coast.

The expansion is in line with a trend by other contractors
including Aker Solutions to beef up their local presence to capitalise on new opportunities opening up in the Barents as exploration and development activity
is set to increase in the coming years on the back of discoveries such as
Skrugard and Havis, as well as Eni’s Goliat oilfield project.
