The Dane’s jack-up Maersk Giant will drill the 16/10-5 well
at the Polar Bear prospect on production licence 568, the Norwegian Petroleum
Directorate revealed on Thursday.

The NPD did not reveal when the probe would begin, but
reports last month, suggesting Talisman would use the Maersk Gallant, said a
contract would begin in the fourth quarter.

The prospect covers parts of blocks 7/1, 7/2 and 16/10. The
well will be drilled about 10 kilometres southeast of the 15/12-12 discovery.

Maersk has not yet announced the deal and nobody was immediately
available for comment on Thursday morning.

Talisman operates the licence with a 40% stake while Petoro
and Det Norske Oljeselskap have 20% each and Edison International and Norwegian
junior Skagen44 each on 10%.
