The Houston-based service specialist did not elaborate on
the customer or contract details, but said the unit would be scheduled to start
work late in the second quarter of 2013.
Purchased for conversion from Transocean in August, the
Helix 534 has Gulf of Mexico work lined up through 2016.
Helix’s Skandi Constructor vessel is also expected to
start work in the spring of 2013 with a job in the North Sea and later off the
eastern Canadian coast.
Intervention vessels already in the North Sea, the
Seawell and the Well Enhancer, have also earned contracts stretching into the
fourth quarter of 2013.
The Q4000 has also extended backlog through 2014 “with
strong customer interest into 2016,” Helix said in a statement.
A spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for
comment Monday evening.
