The NYSE-listed independent encountered oil shows in its primary target after intersecting sandstone at the Kosrou-1 exploration well off Ivory Coast.

Ocean Rig’s semi-submersible Eirik Raude drilled the well on Block CI-105 to a final depth of 5241 metres in water depths of 2275 metres.

“It intersected 90 metres of reservoir quality sandstones with oil shows in the primary target and over 120 metres in total in the well,” block partner Tullow said on Thursday.

Anadarko operated the block with a 50% share while Tullow is in for 22%, Petroci for 15% and Thani for 13%.

The US independent also encountered oil shows at the Mercury-2 exploratory well off Sierra Leone.

The Discoverer Spirit drilled the well on Block SL-07B-11 to a total depth of 5142 metres in mater depths of 1815 metres.

“It intersected over 270 metres of reservoir quality sandstones which were water bearing with oil shows at this location,” Tullow said.

Anadarko operates the block with a 55% holding while Respol holds 25% and Tullow 20%.
