The contract, worth more than 2.3 billion kroner ($399,590), will run for five years and has an option of two additional years.
Under the deal, Aker will manage the construction and maintenance work for BSP’s offshore assets and be involved in transferring skills to enable local businesses to gradually assume responsibility for the work.
The work is expected to start immediately, with the first Aker-managed offshore campaign in Brunei scheduled for next year.
Aker head of Maintenance, Modifications and Operations (MMO) Tore Sjursen said this latest contract was important for the company’s strategic development in South East Asia, as it planned to expand its operations in the region.
Aker’s MMO business has traditionally been based in the North Sea.
